Too Long!

Hello, all! It's been way too long! There's been a lot going on - lots of pictures taken - lots of crafts being made. Well, they're on their way to being made. I should really do crafts more often so I don't spaz out with all this crafty energy every so often. Here's what my table looked like last night:

Today I added a sewing machine...and some cookies and some chinese food and some candy. Michael is out of town and I like Gilmore Girls and Chinese food when he's gone. I always think it's going to be fun to have the house to myself, but really it's just lonely.

Anyway, I really do have lots of stuff to blog about. My bathroom is done, I took portraits of Hudson on Sunday and I've got a baby shower coming up. Not mine. Heather's. It's gonna be big - Heather is very loved. I can't wait to see her with a belly!

All that to say - stay tuned! I haven't abandoned you! See you soon!

Friend Flashback

Okay - I haven't taken any new pictures this week so I'm going to post some old ones that I like. Here we go!

This is my friend Christina:

She let me take her bridal pictures last year.

She's been married for about a year now and living in Virginia. Their wedding was one of the most memorable that I've ever been to! Her fiance was already in the navy at the time and they would never really commit to when they were going to give him leave. So they were sort-of on standby for their wedding for a couple of months. When they finally found out when he would be able to come to Texas, it only gave them about two weeks notice! So rather than put it off until they had a little more lead time, everybody pitched in and pulled off a two-week wedding. I did the flowers. They turned down my offer to sing at the ceremony. (I don't know why no one ever takes me up on that.) It rained, really hard, but it held off long enough for them to get married in a friend's backyard and then for all of us to grab the cake and run inside to celebrate at their reception. It was also the biggest thunderstorm I remember in a while.

Despite the remarkable humidity level, Christina looked beautiful!

We actually went to Salado to take her bridal portraits. We took about a hundred, but these were some of my favorites:This one is down by Salado Creek.

Outside a tiny Catholic chapel that also hosts a pumpkin patch in the fall.

Her dress is from J.Crew and normally you can't buy those in the store. However, someone just happened to have returned one (in her size!) the day that she went to look at them! It was meant to be.

She looks better than either one of those manequins!

I believe the ring she is admiring there is an heirloom from Steven's family. So sweet!

A little yellow bouquet feature there!

I actually got to take their engagement pictures as well. We took some at Town Lake:

And some on South Congress:

Aren't they a charming couple?
Ha! They're so perfect for each other!

There She Is!

I met my friends Nick and Becca this past Monday to take some portraits of their little girl, Ellie. These are just a couple of my favorite shots, but it was definitely hard to narrow it down! Ellie was such a good model and we all just had a good time! Here she is!

My inexperience as a mom was evident when I handed Ellie a little bunch of flowers - that sounds cute, right? She thought it sounded tasty. It took about two seconds for her to get it in her mouth. Still cute!

Love those teeth!!

And those eyelashes!!

The sweetest thing that you'll ever see in the whole wide world is a happy girl!

Thunderstorms Today!

I'm always wishing that I would get a day with thunderstorms when I can just stay home and enjoy it. Welll - Michael and I are on vacation and we planned to go to Hamilton Pool today and swim and have a picnic. But it looks like we are definitely in for some thunderstorms, so we're not going to try. We still have a few days of vacation left and maybe we'll get to go tomorrow or Saturday.

Right now, I'm planning on eating some breakfast that Michael is making and reading some more blogs (they just never end!), reading some more Lonesome Dove and moving some furniture out of the middle bedroom, so we can start getting it set up. I've almost got all the bedding I need. Even buying it at places like Marshall's and Pottery Barn Outlet, I can't afford to do it all at once, so I've been buying a little bit here and there. I think I'm really going to like it once it's done. I'll post pictures.

I've also been waiting to post pictures of my (almost complete!) bathroom until I find a toothbrush holder and soap pump that I like. Maybe I'll go in search of those things today and finally get you some pictures!! I know that's difficult to believe since it's been more than a month since I said I would, but painting four coats takes a long time! I'm never painting anything ever again. This is long.

And now, because I hate it when there are no pictures, a little preview of the portraits I shot this Monday. Miss Ellie was so much fun to work with and her parents are so sweet! Here she is:

Oops! We were too slow!! She's already on the move. We'll catch her next time.
