Thunderstorms Today!

I'm always wishing that I would get a day with thunderstorms when I can just stay home and enjoy it. Welll - Michael and I are on vacation and we planned to go to Hamilton Pool today and swim and have a picnic. But it looks like we are definitely in for some thunderstorms, so we're not going to try. We still have a few days of vacation left and maybe we'll get to go tomorrow or Saturday.

Right now, I'm planning on eating some breakfast that Michael is making and reading some more blogs (they just never end!), reading some more Lonesome Dove and moving some furniture out of the middle bedroom, so we can start getting it set up. I've almost got all the bedding I need. Even buying it at places like Marshall's and Pottery Barn Outlet, I can't afford to do it all at once, so I've been buying a little bit here and there. I think I'm really going to like it once it's done. I'll post pictures.

I've also been waiting to post pictures of my (almost complete!) bathroom until I find a toothbrush holder and soap pump that I like. Maybe I'll go in search of those things today and finally get you some pictures!! I know that's difficult to believe since it's been more than a month since I said I would, but painting four coats takes a long time! I'm never painting anything ever again. This is long.

And now, because I hate it when there are no pictures, a little preview of the portraits I shot this Monday. Miss Ellie was so much fun to work with and her parents are so sweet! Here she is:

Oops! We were too slow!! She's already on the move. We'll catch her next time.

  4. Meh. I had a good long comment written, and it got erased because ... I'm not sure I hadn't chosen how I wanted to "comment as."

    The highlights were:
I'm jealous of you being able to stay home during the thunderstomr -- we've gotten about 10 inches of rain here *since July began* and I have just been going, going, gone for about all of it.
I've done pilates twice this week and once last week. I feel bruised and my tailbone is skinned again.
I made peach cobbler with fresh Fredericksburg peaches on Monday, but over estimated my pie-crust-making ability and decided that (although it really tasted very good) it was too funny looking to bring into work as I had planned. So I sent out a mass e-mail and invited people to come get some after pilates. A few came. Nicole came and said, "Oh, you could have brought that into the office. It doesn't look ... You know what you could have done? Covered it with cool whip." Heh. I finally finished off the last pieces today by cutting them up and bringing individual pieces to a few people here.
So. See what you've missed not being around to be my e-mail buddy? I bet you can't wait to get back to work!
(Also -- cute photo, and I saw you got a comment from Red! Oooh! Oooh! AND, Nicole and her husband are going to take our cowboy trip (only they won't look for cowboys. Her husband might not be OK with that.))

  5. Yeah I totally can't wait to get back to work. Er - somethin'. I'm so glad they're taking our trip!! When are they going? Are they going to stay at Serendipity? I can give them the website where I found it if they want to look at other places. Also, there are a couple of really nice places that are more like hotels if they want.
