Vacation Update 2!

Okay - so for Tuesday we had planned to head out early to the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort to ride some horses, hang out in the lazy river and just chill in general. But if you live around here, you know that resort is out by Bastrop. And if you have a TV, you know Bastrop is on fire.

Now, it's on the complete opposite side of town from the wildfires and is miles and miles and miles away from where all that was going on. So they told us to come on out, but that they would have to cancel the trail ride. Sad. But not as sad as not being able to go at all.

So we went. And the place is gorgeous!

We loved the Hill Country feel to the place, and let me tell you - you do not feel like you're in Bastrop, Texas! The place is waaaay back in the woods on the Colorado River. Completely isolated and quiet and beautiful.

Because of that they (usually) have all kinds of activities (mostly family type stuff) and a HUGE pool area. There's a big regular pool, a waterslide, hot tubs, adult pool and hot tub (if the kids are just too much for you!) and a lazy river. We floated around the lazy river for about an hour on Tuesday!
They also have trails to walk and several event venues and restaurants. Oh! And an ice cream parlor!
We had the fruit tart and pecan pie tart in the bottom right picture while we watched a movie in the room. It was very chill and we liked it!

So, the stay was mostly great, but the whole place was a little subdued since most of the people staying there besides us were mostly firefighters and evacuees. But we had the place pretty much to ourselves since they were really interested in the lazy river or the hot tub. (The hot tub was soooo nice on Wednesday morning when it was all cool and fallish outside! Maybe the best part of the trip!)

So that was our trip to the Hyatt! Sorry there are no pictures of Michael on a horse! Next time - I promise!

  1. I also wish I had a cupcake witha marshmallow on top. Or a pecan pie. Mmmm, yum. How come you gotta put so much food in your blogs? It makes me hungry.
